Car Details

Porsche 911 / 964 Carrera RS 3.8. The one and only pre-production test model of a Porsche 911 / 964 Carrera RS 3.8 ever made! This ‘BB-PW-256' is the world’s most famous RS. On the 22nd September 1992, the Weissach motorsport division took possession of internal order number 964-330 from Porsche AG. This was with the intention of producing a road-worthy homologation model and demonstrator. Built by the motorsport division, Ronald Kussmaul, the 3.8 RS` project leader and chief engineer, used this pre-production test car as a basis to check and develop every aspect that eventually went into the production cars. Of note is that the famous world champion rally driver Walter Röhrl was one of the first to be given the 3.8 RS for road testing. A nice touch is his signature on the petrol cap! His comments and photo`s (released by Porsche in 1993) are still to be found on the Internet. The prototype featured the M491 option, the so-called Turbolook, taken from the Turbo bodywork. Porsche offered the M491 option on Carrera 4’s to celebrated the 30th anniversary of the 911 in 1993. Of the 55 3.8 RS built, this prototype is the only 964 Carrera 2 (964-330) to feature the M491 option. The car has the ‘L12G Speedgelb’ finish in combination with the bucket seat trim in black, dark grey, pearl grey and light grey leather. It features Porsche developed Speedline 17'' cast cup-rims. This car has been publicised on numerous occasions, notably in Motorklassik? magazine as well as a 6-page dedication in the well-known book: ‘Porsche 964 Carrera RS 3.8’ by Jurgen Barth, Norbert Franz en Robert Weber. Weissach sold the car to a German collector in 1995 who then sold the car 20 years later in 2015 to another German collector. The car has demonstrable history both published and through the many invoices still present. Porsche Stuttgart always has excellently serviced the car, as the correctly stamped service book reflects. An absolutely unique Porsche that really should not be absent from anyone`s Porsche collection.
